FAQ

Q. Will the DX10V control and work with my equipment?

A. Our DX10V unit is designed to control many different types of equipment such as 0-10V controlled LED drivers and 0-10V motor controls. To determine compatibility, examine the specifications for your equipment and insure it doesn't draw more than 20mA at 10 volts and no more than 10mA at 0 volts. These specifications may not be accessible and may require a technical call to the manufacturer.

Q. Will the DX10V outputs go all the way down to 0 volts?

A. For most practical purposes yes our controller will go to zero. The actual voltage is about 50mV (.05V) and should be considered OFF by most 0-10V controlled products.

Q. Why won't my 0-10 volt controlled LED lights turn completely off?

A. Most LED drivers we have researched dim from 100% to 10%, and will not turn off completely. This is a limitation of the LED driver. To determine if specific LED drivers will turn completely off, examine the specifications of the driver, under the 0-10V dimming section, look for ranges such as 100%-10%, 100%-1%, or 100%-0%. These specifications may not be shown and may require contacting the technical department of the manufacturer. If it's determined that the driver willnot dim to 0%, then another option is to turn the power off to the LED driver(s) when the 0-10V input goes below 1 volt. See our DX10V-RL product, an (8) 0-10 volt output unit with parallel relays that provide power switching below the 10% range.

Q. Can I gang or connect more than one driver per output of the DX10V?

A. Yes, ganging should work for 0-10V input devices, just insure they don't draw more than 20mA at 10 volts and no more than 10mA at 0 volts. These specifications may not be shown and may require a technical call to the manufacturer. Typically drivers will draw about 1mA to 1.5mA at 10 volts, so it is plausible that 12 or more could be controlled per output. To insure these specs are not exceeded it is recommended to connect the drivers as desired and measure the current at 10 volts AND then measure at 0 volts.

PCB Selectable features:

  • 12VDC Power Supply
  • 5" Wire Leads - 5" Wire leads are factory installed
  • DIN Rail Clips
  • DIN Rail 8"
  • Screw Terminals Omitted - If mounting the PCB on a faceplate with the LEDs and DIP switch accessible from the front of the enclosure, the screw terminals can be omitted and the wires soldered directly to the board to allow the pcb to mount flush.
  • Mount Screw Terminals on Back of PCB - If mounting the PCB on a faceplate with the LEDs and DIP switch accessible from the front of the enclosure, the screw terminals can be mounted on the back of the board to allow the pcb to mount flush.

DX10V Add Ons:

A small sub PCB is required to add the additional 8 channels for a total of 16 channels. This sub PCB can be factory mounted on the top of the main board or the bottom. The "Face Up / DIN Rail Mounting" option will have the sub PCB and the screw terminals top mounted for inside an enclosure or with DIN clips for DIN rail mounting. The "Faceplate Mounting" option will have the sub PCB and the screw terminals bottom mounted allowing the PCB DIP switches and LED's to be accessible from the outside of an enclosure with accessible holes made in the enclosure.

  • 16 Ch - Sub PCB and screw terminals TOP MOUNTED (Inside enclosure or DIN Clips for DIN rail mounting)
  • 16 Ch - Faceplate Mounting - Sub PCB and screw terminals BOTTOM MOUNTED
  • 24 Ch - Sub PCB and screw terminals TOP MOUNTED (Inside enclosure or DIN Clips for DIN rail mounting)
  • 24 Ch - Faceplate Mounting - Sub PCB and screw terminals BOTTOM MOUNTED

DX10V Custom Option:

  • Standard PCB is 0 to 10 volt output and will vary in respect to the DMX channel level
  • The 0-5V option is a hardware change that will set the output voltage range from 0 to 5 volts output per channel and will vary in respect to the DMX channel level. e.g. channel level of 10% = .5 volts, 75% = 3.75 volts etc.

** Now RDM E1.20 Compliant. Remotely setup and modify changes with an RDM Controller.

The DX10V-PCB converts a DMX-512 input to a variable 0 to 10 volt analog output. Control 0-10 volt LED drivers or dimmers, for example, from a DMX lighting board or DMX controller. Also has a 'switch' option for controlling solid state relay's (SSR). Each output can source up to 20mA and sink up to 10mA. Each output is assigned to a consecutive DMX channel and will vary from 0 to 10 volts in respect to the corresponding DMX channels' level. Standard unit has 8 channels, available with 16 or 24 channels, (4 channel PCB's available with quantities of 5+ at a reduced price).  See the DX10V 0-10 volt full description category page for more information.

The DX10V-PCB is designed to mounted for access to the dip switches and LED's either internal or external of an enclosure. The standoffs are mounted on the bottom of the PCB for installing in an enclosure. If the dip switches and LED's are to be accessible from the exterior of the enclosure then simply move the standoffs to the top of the PCB and mount face out of the enclosure.

FEATURES:

  • Engineered with quality parts and a reliable and simple design
  • Screw terminals installed for easy connection
  • 8, 16, or 24  Independent 10 Volt Outputs
  • Data LED illuminates indicating DMX 512 signal is present, and a Power LED for +12VDC
  • Switch mode to drive solid state relays
  • Assign the address start channel to any of the 512 DMX channels
  • Stand-alone (DMX off) optionally will turn all outputs on or off
  • 0-5 volt outputs optional, or most preset output voltages can be set-contact us for custom voltages
